Abstract

Among various other forms of diversity based on individual differences or ethnicity of employees, career stage diversity is often overlooked and not much talked about. This chapter describes the miscellany of career stages across the lifespan of any employment, considering changing circumstances. The dawn of boundaryless and protean approaches urges decision-makers to reflect upon the varying needs across these stages to manage them effectively. With the advent of technology, changes in labor market situations, and a hybrid form of work cultures, career progression in organizations is striking not only for the employees but for the organizations too because engaging the workforce at different career stages necessitates a conception of the assorted requirements that guide and motivate their expectations and actions. Understanding the unique concerns, motivations, and expectations of employees across these stages is insightful for strategy makers to draw sustainable solutions for talent management in an organized manner. In addition to comprehending career-stage diversity, how gamification can help organizations to engage employees across these stages is also deliberated.
