Abstract

Memristor, the fourth fundamental circuit element, has drawn substantial interest from researchers throughout the world and it has been used in a diverse range of applications due to its programmability nature and memory features. This chapter reconstructs the circuitry and represents the comprehensive analysis of simple floating MOSFET-based memristor. This MOSFET-based memristor is made up of just three n-type MOSFETs and a grounded nMOS capacitor. The uniqueness of this presented memristor is that it is capable of processing high frequency signals and low power consumption. This chapter has explored the high frequency applications of this presented memristor in analog and digital domains. In this chapter, the design of different types of filters, such as passive low pass filter and passive high pass filter using this MOSFET-based memristor has been introduced. A two bit base-2-weighted DAC cell by utilizing only two memristor has been designed and demonstrated in this chapter. Furthermore, the design of 2 × 1 mux using memristor has also been demonstrated in this chapter. The basic fundamental characteristics of memristor is a hysteresis loop which is pinched at origin at various frequencies and different capacitance values have been observed in this chapter. 170 The simulation and reconstruction of the presented memristor circuit, as well as the exploration of its possibilities in various circuits, were conducted using Cadence Virtuoso Analog Design Environment with GPDK 90 nm CMOS technology.
