Abstract

Health information is stored in electronic health records (EHRs). EHRs are shared across healthcare stakeholders, making them vulnerable to power outages, data abuse, a lack of privacy, security, and an audit trail. Blockchain, on the other hand, is a revolutionary technology that allows nodes in a list of networks to join without a central authority. It might overcome EHR management’s limitations and establish a more secure, decentralized, and safer EHR data exchange environment. Also, blockchain is a distributed ledger that stores and shares data in a cryptographically secure, verified, and unanimously agreed-upon way across all mining nodes. The blockchain saves data securely and cannot be manipulated. Smart contracts and machine-learning algorithms may be trusted to make judgments and analyze data. Yet, blockchain has scalability and complexity difficulties that may make it inefficient. Mixing AI with blockchain technology can mitigate some of these two technical ecosystems’ limitations. Data helps AI computers learn, evaluate, and draw conclusions. The highlighted taxonomy integrates blockchain and AI, allowing us to examine the potential uses of both technologies in healthcare data management. Future study topics and unanswered questions are discussed to round out the chapter.
