Abstract

Herbal medications or supplements are natural substances derived from plant parts, often used for their therapeutic benefits when taken as supplements. Around the world, these products are regulated according to the specific laws, guidelines, and oversight of governmental and expert bodies. Regulatory agencies, established in accordance with local laws, oversee the registration and compliance of herbal health products. In India, for instance, the Department of AYUSH regulates herbal medicines under the Drug & Cosmetic Act, requiring manufacturing licenses for production and sale. This legislation aligns with international standards set by organizations like the USFDA, the European Medicines Agency, the Therapeutic Goods Act, and the World Health Organization, ensuring quality and safety in the production and distribution of herbal products.
