Abstract

Evidence-based pharmacist care in schizophrenia integrates clinical, economic, and humanistic strategies to optimize patient outcomes. In the clinical domain, pharmacists ensure appropriate antipsychotic selection, dosing, and monitoring; identify and mitigate drug interactions; and support adherence through tailored counseling and long-acting injection services. Economically, interventions such as medication reviews, generic substitution, and adherence support reduce hospitalizations, wastage, and overall healthcare costs. Humanistically, patient education, stigma reduction efforts, and empathetic communication enhance quality of life, self-efficacy, and treatment satisfaction. High-quality evidence demonstrates significant improvements in symptom control, reduced healthcare utilization, and elevated patient-reported outcomes. Barriers including regulatory constraints, time pressures, and reimbursement models are examined alongside facilitators like interprofessional collaboration, technological integration, and professional development frameworks. 154 Recommended metrics and implementation pathways are proposed to guide sustainable integration of pharmacist-led care into multidisciplinary schizophrenia management. Practical recommendations support implementation across diverse healthcare settings effectively worldwide.
