Abstract

Fungal skin infections are common dermatological conditions that cause significant clinical, economic, and humanistic challenges. Clinically, they range from mild superficial infections to severe cases in individuals with weakened immune systems, often requiring prolonged treatment and carrying a risk of complications such as secondary infections. Pharmacists play a crucial role in the early identification of these infections, providing guidance on appropriate medication use, monitoring treatment response, and ensuring safe and effective therapy. Economically, pharmacist interventions help reduce healthcare costs by preventing misuse of medications, minimizing unnecessary medical visits, and promoting the use of affordable treatment options. From a humanistic perspective, visible fungal infections can lead to embarrassment, social withdrawal, and reduced quality of life. Pharmacists help address these issues by educating patients, correcting misconceptions, improving treatment adherence, and offering emotional support. Their accessibility and expertise make them valuable contributors to comprehensive patient care, enhancing outcomes through safer, cost-effective, and compassionate management of fungal skin infections.
