Abstract

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a prevalent male health condition that significantly impacts quality of life, interpersonal relationships, and overall wellbeing. This chapter explores the crucial role of evidence-based pharmacist care in the management of ED across clinical, economic, and humanistic dimensions. Clinically, pharmacists assist in early identification, risk factor assessment, lifestyle modification counseling, optimization of 154 pharmacological therapies such as phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, monitoring for adverse drug reactions, and addressing drug-related causes. These interventions contribute to improved treatment adherence, enhanced patient outcomes, and reduced associated health risks. Economically, pharmacist-led care reduces healthcare costs by guiding appropriate use of medications, promoting generic alternatives, and preventing unnecessary healthcare utilization through education and counseling. Humanistically, pharmacists empower patients through tailored education, promote open communication to reduce stigma, and support psychological well-being, ultimately enhancing satisfaction and quality of life.
