Abstract

Ovarian cancer, often diagnosed at an advanced stage due to its subtle and nonspecific symptoms, presents significant clinical, economic, and humanistic challenges. This chapter outlines the vital contributions of pharmacists in the evidence-based management of ovarian cancer. Clinically, pharmacists play essential roles in prevention, symptom identification, drug therapy optimization, adverse effect management, and improving treatment outcomes. Their expertise ensures the safe and effective use of chemotherapeutic and targeted agents, enhances patient adherence, and minimizes drug-related complications. Economically, pharmacist-led interventions contribute to healthcare savings by selecting cost-effective therapies, preventing adverse drug reactions, reducing hospital admissions, and supporting medication adherence. Humanistically, pharmacists improve patients’ quality of life through tailored education, emotional support, adherence strategies, and enhanced health literacy. Their accessibility, trust, and involvement empower patients and foster satisfaction. The chapter emphasizes the need for greater pharmacist integration into multidisciplinary oncology teams to deliver comprehensive, patientcentered, and cost-effective ovarian cancer care.
