Abstract

Pharmacists are central to the comprehensive care of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, osteoporosis, and adrenal and pituitary diseases. This chapter outlines the evidence-based roles, skills, and competencies pharmacists must develop to optimize endocrine pharmacotherapy and patient outcomes. Key responsibilities include medication management, therapeutic monitoring, patient education, adherence support, lifestyle counseling, and use of advanced medical technologies such as insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. The chapter emphasizes the importance of interprofessional collaboration, cultural competence, personalized medicine, and digital health integration. It also offers extensive recommendations for professional development, including continuing education, clinical training, research, advocacy, and simulation-based learning. By embracing a patient-centered and evidence-driven approach, pharmacists can significantly improve the clinical, economic, and humanistic outcomes of patients with endocrine disorders and play a transformative role in chronic disease management and preventive healthcare.
