Abstract

A novel idea in aquaculture is provided by integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA). It transforms aquaculture from the farming of a single species to the farming of multiple species in concert with one another. The extraction and conversion of extra nutrients into other crop production by IMTA, which substitutes the dilution of waste materials. The farm replicates natural ecosystem cycles and enables nutrient reuse, decreasing waste and negative environmental impacts. The industry is served by IMTA’s waste reduction system. A fully circular system might be created by adding plants or other species as a component to the fish food to promote circularity. This type of IMTA produces more beneficial products while minimizing the ecological effects close to the aquaculture business.
