Abstract

Controlling dangerous diseases is one of the major concerns in aquaculture. Numerous disease-causing bacteria in fish have developed resistance to frequently used antibiotics as a result of the indiscriminate use of antibiotics in fish farming. Some microorganisms are now immune to even the strongest drugs currently available. Due to biomagnification, the improper use of antibiotics in aquaculture has an impact on human health in addition to aquatic life. Antibiotic alternatives are therefore needed now more than ever in aquaculture. In this chapter, the subject of resistance in aquaculture will be briefly discussed, along with some potential options.
