Abstract

Nanobubbles (NBs) are nanoscopic gaseous zones that can exist in large liquids or on solid surfaces and are distinguished by their extraordinary stability over time. The exceptional stability, large surface-to-volume ratio, rapid gas dissolution rate, and ability to generate free radicals are unique properties of NBs; these properties offer a plethora of opportunities in various sectors. Due to its potential applications across several industries, NB technology has recently attracted a lot of attention. In aquaculture, NBs present a promising way to implement sustainable practices and improve aquatic organism performance by contributing to water treatment, water management, disease control, better aquaculture production, health of fish, and many other applications. Overall, the use of NB technology in sustainable aquaculture practices offers a viable path to improve performance, strengthen environmental conservation, and promote aquatic species’ general well-being. This chapter explores the 96 above-mentioned unique characteristics and potential applications of NBs for sustainable aquaculture.
