Design of Multiband Antenna Using Flexible Substrate for Wireless and Sub5G Applications
Abstract
This chapter explores the design and optimization of antennas using flexible substrates for wireless communication and sub-5G applications. The evolution of wireless technologies necessitates innovative antenna designs with flexible substrates that offer advantages in conformability, lightweight properties, and integration ease. The study begins by reviewing current antenna design technology, highlighting conventional rigid substrate limitations and the opportunities presented by flexible alternatives. The proposed design leverages flexible substrates’ mechanical properties for conformal integration with irregular surfaces crucial for modern communication devices. Advanced simulation tools and optimization techniques are employed to refine antenna geometry, focusing on key performance metrics, including impedance matching, radiation pattern, and bandwidth. 184 The integration of flexible substrates presents unique challenges requiring a careful balance between mechanical flexibility and electrical performance. The research addresses strategies for managing flexible material integration challenges while ensuring design robustness and reliability. The study examines the substrate’s impact on form factor and portability, which contribute to compact, lightweight device development for various deployment scenarios. This research advances wireless communication antenna design, particularly for sub-5G applications, demonstrating how flexible substrates can achieve enhanced adaptability and performance in contemporary and future communication systems.
