Abstract

The rise of cyber threats that are more advanced and widespread than before demands that existing methods of protection must evolve beyond their capacity to face the specificities of contemporary digital surroundings. The emergence of technologies, including 5G, IoT, and autonomous systems, has greatly enlarged the attack surface and rendered traditional risk management techniques ineffective. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a creative response in the cybersecurity arena, where there are more sophisticated ways for detection, response, and prevention of the threat. Leveraging large volumes of data available to train these systems, they can respond quickly to both new and evolving threats, which enhances detection and ultimately 104 reduces the time to respond to potential attacks. This chapter describes the essential role of AI in transforming the approach to cybersecurity and how AI can address a range of threats, including malware, phishing, s), and insider threats. AI systems play a crucial role in increasing cybersecurity by providing real-time and adaptable defensive capabilities through the use of machine learning, deep learning, and anomaly detection systems working in parallel to prevent potential attacks in changing and risk-fed environments. AI systems will not only recognize an attack when it happens, but they will also predict attacks by building a model of your organization and monitoring changes over time. Advanced systems can recognize when a new risk arises and an attack is being launched. This chapter also highlights the challenges of deploying AI in cybersecurity, including data quality required for training models, driving the scalability solutions from AI motivation, and ethical challenges of fairness and privacy. An overview of those using AI in solving issues related to emerging technologies, specifically its application in protecting critical infrastructure and securing autonomous systems, as well as data on securing the increasing number of connected devices in the Internet of Things (IoT) systems. The combination of AI, blockchain, and quantum computing may lead to new and more powerful security architectures. Cyber threats continue to grow and evolve, AI will be a key enabler of next-generation security strategies that can help to ensure data integrity and privacy as well as protect against challenges in today’s digital and connected environment.
