Abstract

This work illustrates the pedagogical methodology employed, the students’ response and engagement, as well as some key outcomes of the project, and the overall experience of the participating educators of an environmental education project entitled “Koumoundourou lake: a Habitat in our yard,” integrated into a broader thematic context of “Human Rights in a Clean Environment and Culture” carried out in Greece. The initiative offered students an opportunity to explore a nearby yet often overlooked wetland ecosystem of both ecological and historical importance. Through active participation, research, and fieldwork, students developed critical environmental awareness, historical insight, and a personal connection to their local landscape.
