Abstract

Metaphor, analogy, and abstraction shape not only thought but also the conditions of existence. This chapter examines how representational thinking enforces particular epistemic regimes, engaging Haraway, Tsing, and Mawani to explore alternatives that move through entanglement rather than mediation. The sun and nuclear force become sites of inquiry into the violence of metaphorization, from Derrida’s rhetorical weaponry to the material devastation of atomic destruction. Barad’s material-discursive entanglements and Deleuze and Guattari’s plane of immanence offer pathways for resisting representational capture. The chapter lays the ground for synaesethics as an approach that foregrounds sensing, relationality, and the material conditions of thought itself.
