Abstract

Traversing the entanglements of thought, governance, and colonial expansion, this chapter examines how dominant epistemologies shape both knowledge and the material conditions of existence. It critiques transhumanist and extropian imaginaries, exposing their paradoxical desire to transcend earthly limits while dictating the very terms of life on earth. Engaging with Deleuze, Guattari, Glissant, and Povinelli, it develops matterphorics as an onto-epistemological approach to thinking-with the world. Rejecting Cartesian dualisms and humanist transcendence, the chapter advocates for an ethics of sensing and sensemaking attuned to planetary entanglements. In doing so, it challenges the hegemony of computational reason and technocolonial governance, calling for a reconfiguration of how thought and matter co-constitute modes of existence.
