Abstract

Apply It! • Successful communication strategies for clients with cognitive impairments include engaging directly with the individual, providing extra time for the client to respond, and avoiding correcting the client. These strategies help build trust and positive correlations in their interactions with exercise. • Screening for medical clearance, cognitive impairment, fall risk, physical capability, and exercise self-efficacy promotes safety and guides exercise recommendations and planning. Screening measures can also act as outcome measures for reassessment.
