Abstract

We present a genome assembly from an individual Bolosoma cyanae (deep-sea sponge; Porifera; Hexactinellida; Lyssacinosida; Euplectellidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 101.75 megabases. Most of the assembly (99.93%) is scaffolded into 19 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 18.22 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 10 513 protein-coding genes. From the metagenome data, we recovered 22 bins, of which 18 were high-quality MAGs, including 12 fully circularised genomes. The MAGs included ammonia-oxidising archaea ( Nitrosopumilus sp.) and nitrifying bacteria (Nitrosomonadaceae, Nitrospinaceae) as well as previously described gammaproteobacterial sponge symbionts ( Candidatus Poriferihabitaceae sp.), among others.
