Engineering of contact strength of gears
Abstract
The work investigates the mechanisms of destruction of the surface layers of metals under the influence of cyclic loads. The methodology and results of both experimental and theoretical analysis of surface damage are presented. A new relationship has been discovered between changes in the microstructure, properties of the material and its fatigue strength. Empirical dependences have been obtained that make it possible to predict the strength and durability of machine parts and structures. Examples of predicting the fatigue characteristics of real parts based on the analysis of surface and metal characteristics are demonstrated. The developed method of strength assessment can be applied to solve a wide range of engineering problems in various fields of technology. The monograph is intended for researchers, materials engineers and metallurgists. It will also be useful for students, postgraduates and teachers of technical universities studying in engineering specialties.
