Abstract

COERCIVE WORK DURING GERMAN OCCUPATION IN THE COUNTRY OF THE WARTA RIVER (1939-1945) AND SO CALLED ”USEFUL POLES”: ON THE SIDE NOTE OF THE MEDICAL ETHICS CODE During the II World’s War, nazi Germans incorporated considerable amount of Polish territory. Almost the whole area of Great Poland bacame the Country of the Warta River Province. Many people were expelled, the others were joined at German Nations Register (volksliste). The small amount of society (about 40 000) were ascribed to the so-called Union of useful Poles. After war their attitude was peremptorily analysed and scrutinized. There is still an important question if this behavior was right? Did the conscientious work during occupation all of them, and specially doctor’s emphatic work, were in accordance with code of ethics for physicians and common morality? What’s the lesson for modern time?
