Abstract

A secondary objective is to investigate its relationships with the justification of the gender system, belief in meritocracy, and individual responsibility. This is a quantitative research conducted with 132 women who are part of the labor market. The hypotheses were tested using linear regression, considering significant results for p < 0.05, with the assistance of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and based on specialized literature (Field, 2009). The hypothesis tests highlight the importance of identity in strengthening collective behavior in the workplace, which may result in greater involvement in collective actions and the fight to reduce the justification of gender inequalities. Furthermore, the analyses show that defending the gender system is associated with a greater emphasis on individual responsibility and meritocracy, which may perpetuate the reinforcement of gender inequality in the workplace.
