Abstract

ABSTRACT Artificial Intelligence has gained ground in nutrition by enabling new forms of support for food care, although it still presents challenges that require critical analysis of its use. This study aims to analyze the duality of the application of Artificial Intelligence in the field of nutrition. This is an integrative review, with a qualitative approach, carried out in the LILACS databases via BVS and PubMed. 530 articles were identified, and after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 10 articles remained. The analyzed studies point to benefits such as facilitating access to information, simplifying complex content, and supporting clinical practice and public health. However, they also reveal important limitations, such as the risk of incorrect information, lack of complete personalization, variability of responses, nutritional deficiencies in menus generated by AI, and the possibility of interpretations without scientific rigor. These weaknesses reinforce the need for constant professional supervision. Artificial Intelligence has significant potential to contribute to nutrition, but it’s safe and effective use depends on critical analysis and the indispensable role of the nutritionist, ensuring a balance between innovation and responsible care. Keywords: Artificial Intelligence. Nutrition. Role of the Nutritionist. Duality.
