Abstract

In today’s diverse educational environments, ensuring emotional safety is foundational to inclusive learning. Learners, especially those from neurodiverse backgrounds or culturally sensitive settings, are significantly impacted by the tone, language, and atmosphere of classroom communication. Based on a mixed-method study involving 500 educators and students from India, the USA, and Singapore, 91% expressed the need for a non-intrusive emotional monitoring tool, and 89% affirmed that emotional tone affects engagement. Additionally, 91% raised privacy concerns, and 93% preferred anonymized alerts, highlighting the importance of ethical design. This paper introduces echoDNA, an audio intelligence framework developed by LinkLabs OÜ. Trained on a multilingual, socio-culturally contextualized database, echoDNA detects, filters, and classifies emotionally disruptive speech (e.g., profanity, aggression, negative tone) in real-time. It provides real-time analytics on conversational tone, engagement, and inclusive speech patterns, empowering educators to act early. Through pilot implementations in hybrid and digital learning environments, we present data-driven evidence of reduced classroom conflicts, improved learner well-being, and heightened inclusivity. This approach not only supports learners' emotional and psychological safety but also helps align educational practices with modern ethical and inclusive standards. We argue that such AI-powered interventions are essential to the future of inclusive education, particularly in supporting marginalized and neurodivergent learners, and propose guidelines for their ethical adoption in educational settings.
