Abstract

ÖZAlthough piercing has become increasingly common, the lobule and auricular cartilage are among the most frequent sites. If this procedure is performed by untrained personnel, it increases the risk of perichondritis in the auricular cartilage. When perichondritis develops, increased local temperature, erythema, and pain in the auricle are warning signs for early diagnosis; if an abscess is present, drainage and antibiotic therapy are essential.
