Abstract
By analysing two documents reporting the oath of vassalage sworn by the inhabitants of Mazzano (present-day Mazzano Romano – RM) to the abbots of the Monastery of S. Gregorio al Celio in the years 1327 and 1344, which contain the complete list of individuals who took the oath, an attempt is made to reconstruct the demographic dynamics of a castle in the 14th century Latium.
