La domusculta Galeria Aurelia e il suo centro gestionale: una nuova proposta di localizzazione

Questo lavoro vuole richiamare l’attenzione su un tema che recentemente è tornato a far dialogare gli studiosi, quello delle domuscultae, ovvero le grandi aziende agricole a gestione diretta fondate dai papi nell’VIII secolo nella Campagna Romana. Il contributo nasce dall’esigenza di mettere insieme nuovi dati, a volte inediti, riguardanti Galeria Aurelia, così da fare chiarezza su alcuni problemi interpretativi relativi all’individuazione del centro gestionale della domusculta e degli insediamenti da essa dipendenti. This contribution was born with the aim of drawing attention to a theme that has recently returned to the discussion of scholars, that of the domuscultae. That is, the large directly managed agricultural companies founded by the popes in the 8th century in the Roman countryside. This contribution was born from the need to put together new data, sometimes unpublished, regarding Galeria Aurelia, to clarify some interpretative issues relating to the identification of the administrative centre of the domusculta and its dependent settlements.
