Abstract

Abstract: This article explores the relationship between text and image in «picturesque» Spanish nineteenth-century newspapers. It begins by discussing the philosophical background that emerged in England in the eighteenth century. Furthermore, it illustrates how the so-called viajeros románticos utilized the sketches to promote campaigns for art and heritage. Finally, it explains the significance of minor figures as in relation to the historical monument depicted.
