Re-Thinking Architectural Education in India
Abstract
Abstract: Architecture, as a profession, synthesizes arts and sciences to create built environments that are aesthetically pleasing, technologically sound, and human-centric. In India, architectural education faces numerous challenges including quality of education, faculty availability, outdated curricula, and a gap between academia and industry. This paper identifies key issues and proposes strategic reforms such as curriculum updates, mandatory industry tie-ups, extended internships, and an outcome-based approach to make architectural education more relevant, qualitative, and aligned with global standards while addressing local sustainability and contextual needs.
