There was a time when German Latin American studies was permeated by the spirit of Alexander von Humboldt. And the Ibero America House located on Alsterglacis Hamburg was a worthy place to research and discuss in this spirit. The speech I gave there on invitation of the highly esteemed Consul General of Bolivia Sra. Hortensia Rocabado de Viets, the Ibero-American Association in Hamburg and the local Chamber of Commerce fell within this period.
