Abstract

Biologics have opened up a new therapeutic approach for refractory chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, representing the cutting edge of disease treatment. In 2025, Chinese otolaryngologists published "Chinese position paper on biologic therapy for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps", proposing innovative perspectives on this latest treatment method. According to the Chinese Consensus, the indications for biologic therapy in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps are: severe bilateral adult patients who have undergone appropriate medical and/or surgical treatment, and who meet at least two of the following three criteria: bilateral endoscopic polyp score ≥4 points (0-8 points) (each side ≥2 points); nasal obstruction score ≥2 points (0-3 points) and/or smell reduction score ≥2 points (0-3 points); type 2 inflammation: eosinophil count ≥55 cells/high-power field or ≥27% in polyp tissue, or peripheral blood eosinophil count ≥6.9% (without asthma) or 3.7% (with asthma).
