Abstract

Abstract: The essay focuses in particular on the first 25 years of the ASECS Women's Caucus. It illustrates how the project of bringing women and gender issues to eighteenth-century studies also brought representation, opportunity and recognition for women scholars within the organization and in academia at large, by creating an intellectual community interested in the difference that gender made in different disciplines.
