Abstract

Abstract: This article examines Mario Bellatin's Escritores duplicados: narradores mexicanos en París (2003) as a work showing the tensions surrounding literary authorship in the early twenty-first century. The work reveals the contradictions of authorship as a mediating force between cultural production and economic value. I describe contemporary authorship as "spectacular," shaped by its integration into cultural industries and state patronage, where circulation generates symbolic and material value. In contrast, alternative models emerge from collectivist practices that emphasize reproducibility and documentary approaches to writing. This tension unfolds in the contradiction between autonomy and postautonomy, and in an understanding of writing as both material process and skill. I conclude with an analysis of Vivian Abenshushan's Permanente obra negra (2019), a work that dismantles the figure of the author through techniques of cumulative recycling, thus reconfiguring authorship as collective labor and situating it within a broader historical framework of literary production. resumen: Este artículo examina Escritores duplicados: narradores mexicanos en París (2003) de Mario Bellatin como una obra que sintomatiza las tensiones de la autoría literaria a inicios del siglo XXI.
