Theoretical strategy for hexadecimal color coding via frequency comb-enabled photonic time crystals
Abstract
In recent years, information coding technologies based on electromagnetic wave (EW) modulation have garnered significant attention due to their immense application potential in wireless communication and intelligent sensing. However, existing technologies still face bottlenecks in the accurate compilation of high-dimensional information. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a frequency comb-enabled photonic time crystal (FCPTC) based on time-varying media with EW characteristics. By adjusting the periodic parameters, continuous and stable tuning of the frequency comb spacing is realized, thereby establishing a one-to-one mapping relationship between physical parameters and encoding logic. Leveraging this feature, hexadecimal encoding is realized through specific spacing combinations of the frequency comb, which is further applied to hexadecimal color codes. The proposed FCPTC has enormous application potential in cutting-edge fields such as visual information transmission and encrypted communication.
