Navigating a cleaner future : AI for maritime sustainability
Abstract
Ahmed Abdalla was a semi-finalist in the 2025 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Ahmed presented their research, “Navigating a Cleaner Future: AI for Maritime Sustainability.” Ahmed’s research aims to minimize methane emissions. Their next steps involve comparing their proposed system with existing alternatives to evaluate its effectiveness. Ahmed Abdalla is completing their PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering under the supervision of Bhushan Gopaluni.
