Abstract

Zackary Marshall was a semi-finalist in the 2025 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Zackary presented their research, “Characterizing a candidate taste receptor for lactic acid in insects.” Through their research, Zackary aimed to understand how fruit fly receptors work and to characterize mosquito receptors. This research contributes to improving pest control methods by reducing mosquito attraction. Zackary Marshall is completing their MSc in Zoology in the Department of Zoology under the supervision of Dr. Michael Gordon.
