Abstract

A Stein space is the analogue of an affine scheme in the category of complex-analytic spaces. I will explain how many of the fundamental results for the Brauer group of a noetherian ring have analogues for the (usually non-noetherian) ring of holomorphic functions on a Stein space. For instance, I will discuss a purity theorem for Stein manifolds. Joint work with Olivier Benoist.
