Abstract

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education is rapidly changing how teaching and learning take place, offering possibilities that were difficult to imagine even a decade ago. Yet, in many institutions, AI is still adopted in a piecemeal way individual tools are introduced without a broader, pedagogically grounded strategy to guide their use. At the same time, the rise of Industry 5.0, with its focus on human-centric, resilient, and sustainable innovation, has inspired the idea of Education 5.0, where technology is designed to strengthen not replace human learning and expertise. This paper responds to the gap between scattered AI experiments and the growing need for a coherent, human-centered pedagogical framework. Drawing on a systematic review of more than 25 AI initiatives at leading universities around the world, alongside a thematic analysis of current academic literature, the study proposes a new framework for integrating AI meaningfully into teaching practice. The framework focuses on four interconnected areas: adaptive and personalized learning, intelligent assessment and feedback, the use of generative and immersive technologies, and analytics that support teaching and learning decisions. The paper also examines the practical challenges of applying this framework in real educational environments, highlighting conceptual limitations that universities must navigate. Finally, it outlines a strategic direction for future research and implementation, positioning these developments within the broader vision of Education 5.0 and its emphasis on human-centered innovation in higher education.
