Abstract

The integration of different areas of knowledge promotes a broader perspective on individuals and promotes humanized mental health care. In this context, interdisciplinary therapeutic workshops become a form of care that highlights the uniqueness and diversity of those involved, usually through artistic activities. Thus, engaging students from different fields of knowledge and the community together need to be done from the undergraduate level onwards. Thus, the aim of this study was to report on the experience of therapeutic workshops conducted at a university hospital. The activities were organized by students and conducted weekly, with the voluntary participation of patients and their companions. The students could learn through contact with academics from other fields, develop a dialogical, spontaneous, and artistic approach to care, and become more familiar with the theme of mental health and expanded care. Therefore, the importance of university outreach and the development of mental health initiatives based on interdisciplinarity and art is emphasized.
