Abstract

The current study applies quantitative synthesis to find the Pooled Correlation Coefficients (PCOR) between the classic and Mendeley metrics. The study samples were collected through a comprehensive literature search in Google Scholar, Dimensions.ai, Scopus, and ResearchGate, adhering to PRISMA guidelines. The meta-analysis included 13 eligible publications. The study reported that the PCOR between classic and Mendeley metrics was 0.55. The favourable association between these metrics justifies that Mendeley readership can complement classic metrics for assessing the quick scholarly impact of the LIS research. This is the initial effort to explore the PCOR between classic and Mendeley metrics in this domain, and the study’s findings shed light on the use of Mendeley metrics as a good stand-in for traditional citation metrics in assessing research impact.
