Abstract

These files contain the workflow and the PRISMA 2020 checklist for the NIHR-funded study entitled "Cost-effectiveness of strategies to prevent or manage Candidozyma auris (Candida auris) outbreaks in acute and non-acute settings: systematic review"This UKHSA-commissioned evidence synthesis addresses the rising public health threat of Candida auris, a drug-resistant and environmentally persistent fungus capable of causing fatal infections and costing over £1 million per hospital outbreak. To support the UK's escalating public health response, this project evaluates existing international research, prioritising high-income nations like the UK and USA, to determine the cost-effectiveness and healthcare resource impact of various containment strategies, such as patient screening, specialist cleaning, and PPE usage. The study will generate no new data, instead utilising a two-stage systematic approach consisting of an initial mapping review to gauge the volume of available evidence, followed by a detailed synthesis of studies measuring value for money and resource utilisation across acute and non-acute healthcare settings.
