Writing Laboring in the Shadows has been a long journey.I wasn't sure this book would be completed.Between the initial idea and the writing of these chapters lies loss, grief, and the struggle to be well.There were days when looking at a computer screen made me nauseous and profoundly fatigued.Fighting to be well and to heal was necessary.I had to carve out space to heal, even if that meant disappointing others.Considering this, I want to thank the people and places that honored and safeguarded my desire to be well and who have been with me on this journey.Thank you to my partner in life, John Diamond,
