Abstract
Outright physical abuse, profound humiliation and verbal abuse, coercive or unconsented medical procedures (including sterilization), lack of confidentiality, failure to get fully informed consent, refusal to give pain medication, gross violations of privacy, refusal of admission to health facilities, neglecting women during childbirth to suffer lifethreatening, avoidable complications, and detention of women and their newborns in facilities after childbirth due to an inability to pay.Even the Council of Europe, with the Resolution 2306/19, has addressed the issue, by relating the problem of obstetric violence with the patriarchal culture that exists in society and in the medical field, and suggesting that the difficult working con ditions in healthcare can affect the treatment of patients.Dubravka Šimonović, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women, in her 2019
