79A new logarithm-based distance measure for Pythagorean fuzzy sets and application in decision making
Abstract
Currently, Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs) are extensively used in various fields due to their significant advantages in expressing and managing uncertainty. However, effective measuring the differences between PFSs remains a challenge. In this study, we propose a novel logarithm-based distance measure for PFSs. The paper presents both mathematical and geometric representations of the proposed measure to validate its effectiveness. To demonstrate the superiority of our approach, we conduct comparative studies with existing distance measures through various numerical cases involving PFSs. Furthermore, we apply this distance measure to solve pattern recognition and medical diagnosis problems within decision-making contexts. The results are validated through comparative analyses with existing measures, confirming the effectiveness and applicability of our proposed approach.
