161Modeling the impact of quarantined COVID-19 individuals with restrictive treatment capacity in hospitals
Abstract
We investigate the dynamics of an S E I Q H R nonlinear epidemiological model of COVID-19, which accounts for a nonlinear incidence rate and limited treatment capacity of hospitals. The solutions of the model agree with its nonnegativity and boundedness. The model possesses a maximum of three endemic equilibria under various parametric restrictions. The model reveals a unique interplay between quarantine, treatment efficacy, and recovery. The model is examined for its conditions when the disease-free and endemic equilibria attain local stability via the Routh–Hurwitz criteria, whereas the global stability conditions are established by the construction of Lyapunov function. These findings have consequences for understanding the long-term dynamics of COVID-19, particularly in the context of vaccination and treatment interventions.
