Pilot plant for ethanol amines production from chlorohydrin process with AI validation
Abstract
Abstract 2. Ethanol amines are widely used raw materials for many chemical process industries such as Paints, rubber, detergents, cosmetics, CO2 and H2S absorption. The objective of this work is to develop cost- effective and technologically detailed process design and simulation for a pilot scale process for Ethanol Amines production plant in Egypt. A simulation-based energy optimization system that integrates heat recovery from exothermic reactions and distillation units is proposed. In addition, the process includes the feed preparation section, by-product handling and product separation with optimized atmospheric distillation. The process model is integrated with AI-driven model to analyze real-time data from sensors and control systems to continuously monitor process parameters allowing for immediate adjustments to optimize efficiency, energy consumption, and product quality. By incorporating the chlorohydrin process to form ethylene oxide for reacting with ammonia in the synthesis of ethanolamines in an aqueous environment. The chlorohydrin process is an appropriate option for pilot scale process instead of direct oxidation to obtain the desired ethylene oxide capacity, with no need to high chemical feedstock of chlorine which is a significant factor, as well as low effluent load that can be handled.
