High-resolution x-ray diffraction study of the spin-ladder magnet Bi2CuO3(SO4)
Abstract
High-resolution XRD data have been collected at ID22 on two batches of the spin-ladder magnet Bi2CuO3(SO4) at 80 K and at room temperature. They confirm the previously established C2/c structural model and reveal the nonmagnetic impurity of Bi28O32(SO4)10. We conclude that the elevated atomic displacement parameters for half of the oxygen atoms are due to a dynamic disorder of the SO4 tetrahedra at room temperature.
