Abstract
The play written by William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice, is set in Venice in the year 1596, a prestigious commercial center in the 16th century. The plot has a historical, allegorical, and legal perspective that promotes a culture of peace. This work exemplifies the way to resolve ethical and moral problems when facing the conflict between the strict application of the law. Likewise, it highlights the mastery of legislation to resolve disputes, emphasizing the relevance of legal interpretation. Method: critical documentary research was carried out corresponding to the demands of contemporary societies, guided by the design of methodological realism in legal education. Result: literary analysis motivates the understanding and transformation of social and legal reality, integrating the critical interpretation of the text with reflection on contemporary issues and their teaching in law. Conclusion: the argument of mercy and clemency in justice should motivate a more humane social equity. Both principles mutually need each other to create a legal and social system based on impartiality, equality, and respect for the rights and dignity of all people. National and international laws must be invoked for the comprehensive care of the parties, demonstrating the importance of inclusion in the principle of interdependence as a method in the pursuit of human rights justice.
