Improving Students’ Quranic Memorization by using Takrir method at Islamic Boarding School
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the implementation of the takrir method in improving Qur’anic memorization among students at Darul Mursyidin Islamic Boarding School. It examines how tahfidz teachers apply the method in daily learning activities and identifies factors that support or hinder students’ memorization progress. A qualitative case study approach was employed to obtain an in-depth understanding of the memorization process. Data were collected through interviews and observations involving seven informants: the principal, one memorization teacher, and five students selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis followed three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that takrir method is implemented systematically through several stages: submitting new memorization to the teacher, group repetition, individual repetition, repetition during prayer, and enrichment sessions related to interpretation and recitation rules (tajwid). Supporting factors include strong parental encouragement, structured teacher supervision, and a disciplined boarding school environment. Inhibiting factors involve laziness, fatigue, illness, and environmental distractions. Overall, consistent application of the takrir method enhances memorization accuracy, strengthens discipline, and supports the sustainability of Qur’anic learning within the Islamic boarding school context.
