Abstract

Abstract This paper introduces an electromechanical model of a latching solenoid that includes permanent magnets. The study proposes a new way based on force measurements to determine the electromechanical parameters in the system of equations to calculate the magnetic co-energy as a function of the current and the iron core's position. The magnetic flux of the permanent magnet is determined by also force measurement. Once the magnetic co-energy and flux are known, the electrical and mechanical equations are derived using the Lagrange's equation of the second kind. The accuracy of the method is verified by comparing simulation results with experimental data.
